Catalonia Bavaro Beach, Golf & Casino Resort - Punta Cana | STSVacations
The pool is absolutely gorgeous. If you put it in their hand its theirs. They were both fantastic and would reccommed them to anyone. The air conditioning does not make the room really cold, but it is adequate.
The bars were all good. Tips are not necessary but sometimes are very helpful. Forgot to ask for safe key right away but got one in the morning no problem. One day, our toilet looked as though it was acting up and the front desk sent someone within 25 minutes to fix the problem.
Japanese restaurant was amazing! The grounds are well kept, lots of staff maintaining the grounds and walkways. Little flat screen TV with lots of channels. There are always guys raking the beach. This is the best resort food we have had in the Caribbean in 8 years.
The choices at dinner time changed everday from turkey to seafood, to roast beef. My husband had the shrimp with pasta which seemed to have more quantity and he loved the flavor. Tried the buffet on the Bavaro side once but it was very chaotic, lots of kids. Will recommend this resort to our family and friends and would go back again someday! You can only go once to each one. Build your own omelettes in the morning, fresh made crepes.
There is a large concrete tube with holes in it in the water and there are indeed lots of fish on the end of the tubes. Catalonia bavaro beach golf & casino resort people eager to take your bags, but we insisted on taking our own.
Punta Cana Airport was chaotic for first-timers.
The chicken they serve at lunch at the pool bar is beyond belief. We spent a great deal of time around the pool and it was busy. Not much they can do about the weather. We were dropped off at the Catalonia Bavaro which was next door of the Royal. The Italian had very bad service; we got our appetizer and soup at the same time and were not even done with them when they came with the main course.
Had drinks in the lobby bar, went and got some lunch at the pool bar. We also blackjack pendant scuba diving. When we came there was a piece of soap sticking to the shower wall and it was still there when we left. Very nice light desert after a long day.
All in all we enjoyed the shows. The buffet was large and food good for buffet food.
The room was clean and well appointed. Lots of chairs and palapas.
Great experience, well worth the money and only gone for the morning. The shows could have been better, Michael Jackson show good, but the before activities dancing with the kids and some adults a little boring.
Beach was simply breathtaking!
Get experience, don't go alone, very overwhelming. There they took a copy of our passport, gave us the keys and carted us off to the room. The lobby bar was very quiet, sometimes a man was playing the piano or the tv was on. Workers rake the beach every morning and sometimes again during the day. King-size bed, lumpy and with loud springs. Big round tub in the room. Only went once on the last day and regreted not going earlier.
Trees need to grow a bit by the beach to give more shade. Air conditioning wasn't super cold, but cool enough, especially with the ceiling fan on to circulate the air. Flew with AirTransat, left about 30 min. We got our rooms early at 1: Air co was very loud, but could not get the room cold. I understand there is a reef further in the ocean, but I don't think you can swim out there.
The beach is amazing. It's nice to see how the locals live and see how cigars are made, taste sugarcane, eat an authentic dominican meal, see how to collect and roast coffee beans, cocoa beans and what other vegetation grows in the region. The course looked like it was in good not great shape.
Water pressure was good and lots of hot water. We were the only two for this resort. The weather was sun and cloud and lots of wind with a couple of days no sun at all, no rain. Food was good there. This was were the entertainment was.
Our maid always made us a figure out of towels. Only problem was it was hard to stay up until 11pm to go there. Steak restaurant was very good. Disco was a lot of fun with great music and dancing. Lots of selection for all meals. There are 4 buffets, 5 a la carte restaurants and 10 bars all offering food. Trees, plants and grass were imacculate. Shows, live bands and late at night a disco. We usually do 4 stars and this was 4.
Had amazing towel art everyday!! Breakfast every morning in the Thalasso, very good. Asked for another room but was told the hotel was full. On our last night there was a torrential rain storm go through. Thank goodness it was our last night. As tourists will be the main players at this casino, you can expect a laid-back but fun atmosphere as most will not be serious gamblers.
Nice size ceiling fan above the beds and air conditioning worked very well.
Got our rooms about 3pm, but enjoyed lunch and the pool until then.
